‘A moral and civic crisis’: Academic performance in Fort Worth static as 1 in 3 students proficient
The Fort Worth Education Partnership’s (FWEP) latest report reveals a troubling insight in student performance in Fort Worth public schools, with only 35% meeting grade-level standards—a 1 percentage point drop from last year. Brent Beasly, FWEP’s president and CEO, voiced concern, stating, “When only about a third of our kids in Fort Worth are at grade level academically, I’m concerned about what that means for them and their ability to access opportunities in their future.” The crisis spans the entire city, with no district seeing more than half its students meeting grade-level standards. In response, FWEP and over 50 organizations launched the Go Beyond Grades initiative, aimed at informing parents about their children’s academic standing and providing resources for improvement.
