Ahead of November elections, New Orleans schools help eligible students register to vote

In preparation for the November elections, the Orleans Parish School Board passed a resolution encouraging schools to partner with local organizations to help students register to vote and participate in civic duties. AlignED, one of the partnering organizations, recently hosted voter registration sessions at several schools, where students learned about political parties, voting basics, and the value of civic responsibility. “While we’re there, we encourage students to register and emphasize why their vote matters,” said Janaé Llopis, an executive consultant on special projects with AlignED. “We aim to give them a strong understanding of civic responsibility and the importance of their voices in shaping their communities.”
