Black Male Educators in Camden Receive Funding to Attend Conference in Philadelphia
Research highlights the positive impact of Black teachers on Black students’ educational success. The Camden Education Fund invests $10,000 for Black male educators in Camden to attend the 2023 Black Men in Education Convening, recognizing their role as critical disruptors and advocates. Despite Black teachers representing only 7% of public school teachers, with 2% being male, their influence is profound. Black educators often hold higher expectations for their Black students and provide culturally relevant examples, fostering academic and personal growth. By sponsoring teachers’ registration at events like the Convening, the Fund aims to promote and support Camden’s Black male school staff, ensuring an environment where all students thrive.
