Community organizations urge Denver Public Schools board to be transparent on catch-up plans for students

A group of community organizations from across Denver urged the DPS school board to focus on the most pressing issues facing students and families. In their communication to the board, the coalition called for a public discussion on academic outcomes for racial and economic subgroups, a school by school analysis of student needs grounded in racial equity, and a tiered support system for students.

Signatories of the letter included the African Leadership Group, The Latino Education Coalition, Our Turn, Padres y Jovenes Unidos, Servicios de la Raza, Stand for Children, and Transform Education Now (TEN). They also called on the DPS board to create a protocol for the smooth reentry of students amid the pandemic.
