Curry: Now Is the Time to Plan for D.C.’s Next School Year

Rev. Kendrick Curry writes that it is time to put pre-coronavirus political views aside and position our schools, educators and families to provide what our students deserve. Students need resources, expanded learning supports, social-emotional enrichment and above all a focus on the joy of learning to get back on track according to the Washington D.C. community leader.

Rev. Curry contends that the city must work with families, community leaders and educators to build trust.  That trust, he says, is vital to establishing confidence in the District’s diverse communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and the economic fallout of the public health emergency. With strong leadership and a commitment to students, Curry says, the District can provide the academic experience every student needs to be happy, healthy and prepared for life.
