Denver Gazette: Charters help cure what ails Denver schools
Denver’s charter schools are providing “real educational leadership” and are “change agents” to be celebrated, the Denver Gazette argued in a recent editorial. The $4.5 million gift from MacKenzie Scott to Rocky Mountain Prep, a local charter school network serving four campuses in Denver, underscored the point, the editorial board observed.
“Like the rest of Colorado’s 260-plus public charter schools,” the editorial noted, “Rocky Mountain Prep has brought new hope and the promise of a brighter future to its students. It gives them a better education more attuned to their individual needs than what was available at their neighborhood schools.”
