Despite gains, Fort Worth students lag behind pre-pandemic STAAR test scores, report shows

A new report from the Fort Worth Education Partnership found that despite significant gains over the last year, 2022 STAAR results show students are performing below 2019 levels. The report shows that schools still have a lot of work to do to get students back on track in the wake of the pandemic, according to its authors. 

“When you see the school buses lined up for drop-off in the morning, we have to kind of face the reality that two out of every three of those buses are full of kids who are not meeting grade level,” Fort Worth Education Partnership’s Brent Beasley told city leaders during a recent briefing.
