Freedom Readers: Developing a love for literacy

RISE Indy’s Freedom Readers is a free workshop designed to empower parents in supporting their children’s reading development. The program educates parents on how to interpret reading test results, guides them in conducting effective reading sessions, and offers book recommendations tailored to their children’s needs. Additionally, it aims to boost parents’ confidence and improve their reading skills. Participants like Amy Alfonseca and her mother, Diana Hernandez, have significantly benefited from the program. After attending a Freedom Readers workshop, Diana applied the strategies she learned at home, leading to a remarkable improvement in Amy’s reading abilities.
