Nonprofit works with IPS to help parents navigate the educational system, support teachers and schools

RISE INDY is partnering with seven Indianapolis Public Schools to help parents better understand how their children are doing in school and how to effectively engage with the choices, services, and resources available within the public school system. RISE Indy also helps parents become more effective advocates for their children, with both school leaders and elected officials. 

“How do you navigate the educational system for your children?” asked Ashely Thomas, an advocate with RISE INDY. “How do you make sure you’re making the right choice as far as school type, with the options that are available? But [it’s] also [about] trying to understand how you can best support the school and the school leaders, and that you always have a seat at the table,”
