RedefinED Atlanta Leader Discusses Pandemic’s Effect On School Districts, Educational Gaps

Ed Chang, executive director of redefinED Atlanta, spoke with Atlanta’s NPR station about the heroic work that educators did in serving students during the pandemic.  The experience, Chang observed, provided new insights on the depths of inequality faced by Black and Brown students.

At the same time, it highlighted the path toward addressing the opportunity gaps students face. “Understanding who the individual child is, what they’ve gone through, and building that trusting relationship to then figure out what the supports are,” said Chang.
