Transforming teaching at Johnson Middle School

The CityBridge Teaching Initiative at John Hayden Johnson Middle School in Southeast DC is transforming education through innovative teaching practices. Supported by Education Forward DC, CityBridge partnered with sixth-grade educators to implement a team teaching model. Led by Leslie Ayorkor Edwards, this initiative encourages collaboration across subjects, fostering creativity and enhancing student engagement. The program is designed to lead DC schools in piloting and scaling innovative teaching models and is working with four DC schools to increase teacher retention, strengthen the teacher candidate pool, and improve student outcomes.
